The September 30 was a remarkable day for me: I was honored to be a delegate at the TEDx Yerevan event, the first TED event officially licensed and organized in Caucasus. YES, WE GOT THE LICENSE!!!! which means that from now on ideas will not only be generated in great person’s great minds but also will be shared forward.
The event was particularly remarkable not only because of the fact that I got to know to so many outstanding people whom I had the opportunity to meet after the event and network a bit more, but also I heard bunch of cool ideas which actually made me think.
So here I would like to share my impressions on some of the TEDx Yerevan Talks that really put a certain spot on my memory… (this is to avoid using the expression "had an impact" on me ;))
So I would like to start with Alexis Ohanyan and his talk on losing control in other words the role of social media. The main thing that impressed me immensely in his speech was the amount of money raised for the Rally organization, some $280.000 USD raised by the Social media, within 8 days. This was such a "woow" amount for me, I was wondering why not applying this tool to supporting kids with disabilities for surgeries and other issues? There are so~so many kids who actually suffer from certain diseases and in most cases these surgeries actually determines their lives. So my idea was to create a certain community so as to be able to raise money for those purposes. Still don’t want to promise you anything… this is just an idea that didn’t occur to me but just hit my mind…
The other talk that I would like to share my impressions about is “All I know about management is Music” the speaker is my dearest and beloved friend Sona Hovhannisyan. I was soooo nervous, excited, thrilled and happy throughout her entire speech that at the end of talk I got the feeling as if it was me delivering the speech ;)
She was telling about the communicating vessels the fundamental law of physics and its application of our daily life and all this she explained by setting herself as an example, i.e. her being a musician by professional background but successfully involved in management.
The truth be told, I never thought about this very law of physics and its any possible interrelation with my life system. Now when I think about that speech and my diverse life I come to think that this does have a point. Enjoy her talk.
Never seen DONKEYmentary movies though have to admit always liked donkeys…:)))) I was soo excited to sea the segment of the movie made by Vardan about the small village in Kenya, people living there and of course DONKEYs…
This talk really just made me think that one can be happy irrespective of any other external factors.
Planning to visit their studio once to take the cope of the movie and make a DONKEYmentary movie screening with friends.
What is Europe, What is Asia, What is Eurasia? Is that a value, is that an aspiration? Great speech delivered by Sir Timothy Straight.
One of the speeches that truly made me ask myself “ok, now so where am I from”? To be truly honest I have always been telling to all my foreign friends that Armenia is neither fully Europe, nor fully Asia, it’s something in the middle… Some part of the population of Armenia have nothing to do with Asia neither in their world outlooks nor in their value systems. Whereas some other more conservative part of the Armenian population is still clanged to Asia again due to the world outlooks and values. To speak more specifically, this is also true about my personality… Some part of it being pure European, the other one more or less Asian… Am I a Eurasian? … no idea maybe just of unknown origin
The story that really made an impact on my was the one of Hrair Hawk. I had the pleasure to meet him after the event and talk to him more and also be photographed by him:))) He is a great photographer… he made me feel so gorgeous every time I look at the pics he took of me. I was just overwhelmed with the serenity, calmness and positive attitude he was telling everything he has gone through the person he has transformed into…
What would you do if you only had 10 days to live?
Hagop EMRAZYAN… I can’t help writing the surname of this guy in CAPITAL letters… adorable person, great leader and knowledgeable individual, and also the guy with TERRIFIC sense of humor. I was sooo lucky to meet him the day after TEDx Yerevan event and get to know him a bit more. The funniest part of our meeting was when were saying goodnight to each other he shook my hand goodnight, I said “Yes, but I would like to hug you”.. and he said yeah no problem, then turned to my fiancée and said “no jealousy man” :))) we hugged and my fiancée said “oh, no problem want to hug you as well” :D… pretty funny at that particular moment :)) anyway…
The talk that I have heard was about learning and about the ways of learning things. One of Best TEDx Yerevan event talk I really enjoyed listening.
Last but not the least. Ktrij (Armen) Devejian just killed me with his "What are you worth?" talk. One of those great talks that I can not even write any comment about, can't help having the keen desire to be a better individual and live a life worth living ;))))
Surely there are a lot of other talks that I would always remember I will covered them in my upcoming posts. Once again I would like to thank all the entire organizing committee team for bring TED to Yerevan and making it come true :)))))
I would recommend everyone to watch all the TEDx Yerevan event talks and of course et you insights on them!
